There are no Grandchildren in Heaven!
Quite an interesting statement – There are no grandchildren in heaven.
I participated in a Corpus Christi procession this morning. We walked nearly four country miles between two churches that are clustered. Even the cows stopped to watch as Jesus walked by.
Fr. Joe’s homily at the 10:00 Mass was about the need for Jesus in our lives, and that we have Jesus right here in the Eucharist. He strongly encouraged all of us to in turn encourage the 75% of our fellow Catholics who rarely or never attend church to come back and receive God’s graces. They, and we, need to actively pursue a holy life. We don’t merit heaven because Grandma or Dad or some relative or friend lives a holy existence. We are SONS and DAUGHTERS of God, a direct relationship; hence there are no grandchildren in heaven.
It is by the grace of God that we will gain our heavenly reward, but we must live a life that is worthy of that reward. Only our actions or lack of action will be counted. We can’t ride in on someone else’s coat tails, nor can we watch, like the cows, from the other side of the fence. God’s graces are waiting for us in the Church, especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation. Let us all be children of God!
