Loneliness: A Health Problem or a Spiritual Problem?

January 26, 2023

It’s amazing how God fits pieces of the puzzle together for us!

I read a lot of blogs and articles and listen to assorted podcasts, both secular and religious/spiritual. And I like to put the pieces together, connect the dots. Actually, God does the connecting for me, I just have to tune in to His inspirations.

Dr. Joseph Mercola has provided me with a lot of good health information over the years, but it seems that a spiritual component is missing from his offerings. I listen to other health commentators and some of them clearly acknowledge God’s contributions to our lives.

One of Mercola’s recent articles is entitled “Loneliness is an Epidemic”. He writes about the increase in loneliness throughout the world, both young and old, and how it contributes to a great many health problems. Yes, the isolation due to the pandemic has contributed to loneliness, but so has the turning away from God.

Of the offerings to overcome loneliness in the article, the closest thing to a spiritual option is volunteering. But loneliness has been growing since prior to the pandemic. People have become more worldly, have stopped going to church, have stopped praying.

You’re never alone when you pray, because God is always on the other end of the prayer!

A while back I wrote a post about the website, Countdown to the Kingdom, and I recently encountered Alicja Lenczewska (1934-2012), a Polish visionary there. All of the messages are enlightening, but the way Jesus spoke to Alicja is so powerful! CDttK only has five messages on their site attributed to Alicja, so I went in search of more. I discovered several articles on the Love One Another! Magazine website. I read a few of the articles and the very first article it begins with, ” we begin to publish extracts from the directions given by Jesus and written down by the mystic Alicja Lenczewska in her spiritual diary Testimony.”

But the final paragraph of Jesus’ directions relates directly to loneliness. God has perfect timing, ay?!

“† Don’t be sad. Your loneliness relates only to the world. You are not alone. I am with you. And you have many friends in heaven. They accompany you, take care of you and pray for you. It doesn’t matter that you don’t see them. Their presence and assistance is more real than what you experience in the world. You don’t belong to this world anymore, and it can’t give you anything. Your home and your homeland are with me. Your soul and your heart should be here at all times and draw strength from here. The supernatural world is not far away. You move about it, mostly unawares.”

And so, to reiterate, loneliness may contribute to health problems, but a healthy spiritual life makes you less lonely and perhaps more healthy!

Jesus, I Trust in You!
